Well here we are one week later and oh my, what a week! I had a dr appointment on that day. I was at 41 weeks so we knew we would talk about being induced but we weren't sure when it would happen, so we were packed ready to go, just incase. The dr checked me and I was STILL at a one! He asked if we wanted to be induced and we said YES! So he said, how about today? He called over to the hospital and they had room, so we were a go. By 1:00pm, I had an IV and the dr broke my water, so we were on our way to havin' a baby. The anesthesiologist came by shortly and gave me my epidural. I was thinking, no labor pains at all! This will be great! Well after a few hours it started wearing off. And this was supposed to be a constant drug, so Shawn pushed the "extra" button and nothing. So they got the anesthesiologist and he tried the extra button, nothing. Then some right into the IV,nothing. THEN, some stronger meds right into the IV, STILL nothing! So this is when he decides to check the line. There was something wrong with the line (kink or something), so he redoes my epidural and this time it works. Unfortunately, within 10 minutes of this glorious medication, it was time to push. Are you kidding me, PUSH! How? Everything from my waist down is numb, there is no pushing! Well, after a little help from the forceps, little Henry James was born. Of course the first thing he does was pee across the room, but hey, what else is a guy to do! But all went well. He did have some problems with low blood sugar, but he got over it after a while. And I had problems with low blood pressure (I seemed to have too much medication in my system, hmmm...), but I got over that after a while.
The kids came by the next day. They were so excited to meet their new brother. They had so many questions, but mostly Calvin. "What does he eat?", "How?", etc. It sure was cute.

We stayed at the hospital for 24 hours. Before they left they said he was a bit jaundiced and the we needed to come back the next day to check his bili levels. Well, they were higher. High enough that they sent over a bili bed. Here he is, his first night "camping".

We got the bed Saturday night and by Tuesday he was off the lights. Doesn't he look like a fly with the eye patches?

On Sunday, we needed to go in for another bili test. They poke the foot and and fill a small vile with the blood. He didn't cry and he slept through the whole thing. After, we stopped for gas, and I thought I'd try and nurse him. I couldn't wake him up, he wouldn't root, nothing. He had always been a good sleeper, but this was a bit much, so we went back to the hospital, this time for the ER. They gave him an IV. The nurse was having a hard time finding his vein and so Henry was crying and crying. She was searching and searching for the vein, while she had the needle in his hand. Well, after a moment he stopped crying and went to sleep. She pulled the needle out, tried again, and got it on the second try. The whole time he is asleep. This boy can sleep!!! If he's awake he's starving and then he'll suck for two minutes, and then fall asleep. I am always fighting him to eat. Not much is more important than sleeping, except maybe pooping!

Henry has found some time in his busy sleep & poop schedule to play computer with daddy.

Henry is such a sweet, mellow baby. I can't wait to see his personality show and see how he adds to our family. He is such a cutie!

Angelic - congratulations! What a week! He's such a cutie. It's always fun to hear what names you pick. They are always classic.
With Taylor I was actually at the "should we induce you or not" appointment and my water broke while they were doing the heart-rate stress test! Right there in their nice leather reclining chair. And I ended up having to push while I was numb too - FUN! But aren't they sweet in the end though?
I hope you are recovering well. I need to stop by next time I'm in Utah so I can see him. Take care!
Congratulations!!!! He is SO cute!!
I am sorry about your crazy week. It is so scarey when they are so little... I hope everything goes well for you and your family, you deserve it!!!

I'm glad he's a good sleeper! That will come in handy ;-)I had to be induced but I didn't get any drugs cuz I'm scared of them. I'm glad it all worked out with the jaundice. He's a cute little fly. Let me know if you need anything we'll be happy to help!
He is so cute! congrats
He's a cutie! Got to say, he does look like a little fly in that bed.
Congrats Angelic! Love the fly picture. How miserable being 41 weeks!
