Ugly Doll

This is my ugly doll!

For Christmas Calvin received a TON of fabric for his puppetry. So on Sunday I showed him that he could make dolls also. He wasn't so impressed, he kept asking "Is it a puppet?'
Oh well! I love it And so do Missi & Owen! O even took it with him to the Dr when he had shots. I can't remember ever making a doll before but I also can't imagine that I never have made one. But I was so excited about making more I went to Walmart for remnant fabric to make more. So when I catch up on a few more projects I will post them!

OH! I almost forgot to mention my inspiration for this ugly doll... It is a game called Ugly Doll! It's made by Gamewright and I think they as good as Cranium games! So FABULOUS! We also have In A Pickle (we laughed and laughed) and Slamwich (haven't played yet). Anyway, these are some great family games that I highly recommend!

o'boy

O! My little Owen is such a character! After church yesterday he dressed himself (can ya tell?). He chose the most hideous pants WITH the hole in the knee. That he of course used for his fashion statement. I just love this!! The black church socks, the pocket flaps sticking out, AND the chocolate ice cream on his face!!!
PRICELESS!
Today I took him for his 5 year old/kindergarten check-up. They had him stand at the line and read the shapes on the eye chart. He read the circle, the heart, the x (really a +), the tea cup, and the "crescent"... Did he just say crescent??? Yes! My 4 almost 5 year old didn't call it a moon he called it a crescent! I wanted to kiss him right there! And I did thank Blues Clue's for that moment! O, he is HILARIOUS! But all did not end well when he found out that he was getting shots in his legs! He was just fine with the idea of shots in his arms, He just had a flu shot he was good with that! But the legs were unacceptable! He nearly jumped across the room when he found out! I think that, at the end of the day, he has now forgiven me.
After the Dr we went to Old Navy and I found this hat!! I couldn't leave without it! I love that it says "O'Days"! "O" is one of Owen's nicknames, so it was just perfect! I will have to get a picture with him in it. Maybe when the weather is nicer/warmer!

Daily Gems

Through LDS.org I have subscribed to their Daily Gems. They are quotes from talks, etc. Here's the one from today, it's really good!

Daily Gems
Challenges Are Growth Experiences
------------------------------
---------------------

"The challenges you face, the growth experiences you encounter, are intended to be temporary scenes played out on the stage of a life of continuing peace and happiness. Sadness, heartache, and disappointment are events in life. It is not intended that they be the substance of life. I do
not minimize how hard some of these events can be. When the lesson you are to learn is very important, trials can extend over a long period of time, but they should not be allowed to become the confining focus of everything you do. Your life can and should be wondrously rewarding. It is your understanding and application of the laws of God that will give your life
glorious purpose as you ascend and conquer the difficulties of life. That perspective keeps challenges confined to their proper place--stepping-stones to further growth and attainment." (Richard G. Scott, "The Atonement Can Secure Your Peace and Happiness," Ensign, Nov. 2006, 41)

I keep coming back to this scripture someone read in church.

2 Timothy 1:7
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

I think it's such an important scripture to remember on your down days and where you can turn to change it.

I really liked yesterdays also....

The Atonement of Christ
------------------------------
---------------------

"Is it possible to reclaim a life that through reckless abandon has become so strewn with garbage that it appears that the person is unforgivable? Or what about the one who is making an honest effort but has fallen back into sin so many times that he feels that there is no possible way to break the seemingly endless pattern? Or what about the person who has changed his life but just can't forgive himself? . . .

"The Atonement of Jesus Christ is available to each of us. His Atonement is infinite. It applies to everyone, even you. It can clean, reclaim, and sanctify even you. That is what infinite means--total, complete, all, forever. President Boyd K. Packer has taught: 'There is no habit, no addiction, no rebellion, no transgression, no apostasy, no crime exempted from the promise of complete forgiveness. That is the promise of the atonement of Christ' ("The Brilliant Morning of
Forgiveness," Ensign, Nov. 1995, 20)."
(Shayne M. Bowen, "The Atonement Can Clean, Reclaim, and Sanctify Our Lives," Ensign, Nov. 2006, 33)

Yumm....

Tonight we had Oven Roasted Taters! I love to dip them in a blend of ketchup and bbq sauce, yummmmm..... Anyway, here's the recipe.

Oven Roasted Taters
1/8 c olive oil
1T minced garlic
1/2t dried basil
1/2t dried marjoram
1/2t dried dill weed
1/2t dried thyme
1/2t dried oregano
1/2t dried parsley
1/4t ground (Cheyenne) red pepper
1/2t salt
4 large potatoes, washed, peeled, and cubed

preheat oven to 475*F. In a large bowl mix all ingredients except taters. Mix well then stir in the taters. Place taters in a single layer on a roasting pan or baking sheet. Bake for 20-30 minutes. ENJOY!

We have this with chicken breasts or tilapia and have broccoli as a side. OH MY it's tasty!

oh, it looks like it's already time to update the kids photos! Oh it never ends...
