I am a week late on this, butmy baby started kindergarten!
Isn't he so cute! He was so ready and confidant for his 1st day. He walked right in and was ready to go. I always figured I would be the one to have a hard time with it. I would go home and cry until I had to get him 3 hours later. But nope, I was fine. I think because he was so ready it helped me be ready. I know that he will do great and LOVE every second of it. And he has! If you know O, you know that he is my grouch!! Always has been and unfortunately always will be. *sigh* This summer we would go all these places; the zoo, the aviary, the candy factory, parks, and even Lagoon. And at the end of the day he would tell me what a rotten, horrible day he had. (I knew he had fun he just won't admit it.) But every day after school he tells me he had the best day ever and how fun his day was. (Maybe it was just that his controlling mom wasn't there... HEY! LOL.) But he has done great! He even got a "caught you being good" ticket on his second day!
And now the update on Missi & Calvin. *bigger sigh* Let me start by saying they are very happy children!! They are so sweet and cute and (again) happy. Really you would think not a care in the world. Especially not cares like school work or anything like that!
Missi has teacher woes again! Mr Manning was there for the 1st day and hasn't been back since. They say he'll be back, just not when. In the meantime, she has a "guest teacher". He's no ordinary substitute, he's better than that! Anyway, I don't care for him much and he doesn't "get" my Mississippi. He seems to just (barely) tolerate her. But, Missi is enjoying school while I am waiting patiently for Mr Manning's return! (for the moment)
Calvin wanted his picture taken when O was getting his 1st day pictures. The sky was a little too bright for Calvin. I LOVE the face he pulled!
On the 2nd or 3rd day of school I asked Mrs. Weston how Calvin did that day. She said: "Calvin was being Calvin today". I loved her response. She gets Calvin, even though he may frustrate her. Remember his realization he had on the first day of school? Well, he remembers it some days and others he just doesn't care. I have told him that if he has one sheet (or no homework) he can play Star Wars Lego for 30 minutes after his jobs. That seems to work the best, right now. With Calvin I have learned the one thing NEVER works! And never the same thing twice in a row. He sure keeps us on our toes! *sigh* Oh, Calvin is learning cursive this year. His cursive seems to be better than his print. He enjoyed it the first week but hasn't loved it as much the second. That blasted G and E!
But overall, the first two weeks of school have been ok. We still spend way too much time on school work at home. But it's been better the in years past. We haven't had as many 4 hours of homework nights, but now we need to figure out how to get 30 minutes of reading in and work on Missi & Calvin's Faith in God/ Articles of Faith memorization.
How does anyone fit it all in???

Calvin's T-shirt says it all.
I KNOW!! We bought that shirt at the Walmart there in Bartlesville. I saw it and KNEW it had to be Calvin's!!
